The Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) seeks input on the recently revised CPME 220, “Standards and Requirements for Recognition of a Specialty Board for Podiatric Medical Practice,” and CPME 230, “Procedures for Recognition of a Specialty Board for Podiatric Medical Practice.” This is your opportunity to weigh in on the future of board certification.

As a certifying board that holds our Diplomates to the highest standards, we are extremely disappointed to see the recently published article, What's the difference between orthopaedic surgeons and podiatrists?, featuring numerous inaccuracies and half-truths. The AMA/author appear to be describing the podiatric profession 75 years ago, failing to recognize the evolution of our education and contributions to the medical field.

On February 2, the ABFAS Board of Directors appointed Scott Nelson, DPM, FACFAS, to fill the vacancy left by the departure of ABFAS Director Katie Swanstrom, DPM, FACFAS.

On February 1, ABFAS President Nicole A. Bauerly, DPM, D.ABFAS, FACFAS, presented the Michael L. Stone, DPM, Outstanding Professional Conduct Awards to nine exceptional individuals.

The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery announced Paul Adeyemi from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine and Olivia Mackey from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Podiatric Medicine as the winners of the 2023 ABFAS Surgeons of Tomorrow Student Conference Scholarship Contest.

ABFAS Diplomates can now earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for each completed quarter of the LEAD Continuous Certification Program. To earn LEAD CME credit, Diplomates must complete all 30 questions in a quarter.
