Case Review Dates and Registration
2027 Case Review Timeline
November 2, 2026: Case Review registration opens. Register now.
December 7, 2026: Case Review registration closes.
December 9, 2026: Candidates receive facility audit instructions.
January 11, 2027: Facility audit upload deadline
January 18, 2027: The list of selected procedures becomes available on the PLS site.
March 8, 2027: Deadline for candidate upload of case documentation and Surgeon of Record checks with opportunity to fix. Candidates must submit all documentation by 11:59 pm PT.
April 8–10, 2027: Case Reviewers meet. Candidates do not attend Case Review.
Results are available 6–8 weeks after reviewers meet.
Case Review Registration
Eligibility
- In order to register for Foot Surgery Case Review, you must be ABFAS Board Qualified in Foot Surgery.
- In order to register for RRA Surgery Case Review, you must be ABFAS Board Qualified or Board Certified in Foot Surgery and ABFAS Board Qualified in RRA Surgery.
- Once you have met your case number and diversity requirements in PLS, you are eligible to register for Case Review. You can register for Foot Surgery Case Review and RRA Surgery Case Review at different times, depending on having met the case number and diversity requirements for each exam.
To get started, login to your ABFAS profile with your ABFAS user name and password. User name and password assistance is available on the login page, if needed.
Once you have signed in, click on “Register for an Exam” on the left-hand side and follow the steps to select and pay for your exam. If you are logging in by smartphone or tablet, you will find “Register for an Exam” under the Account Overview heading.

Case Review Withdrawal and Refund Policy
You may receive a refund of the Case Review examination fee (application fees are non-refundable) under the following circumstances:
Circumstance Policy
You may withdraw before the deadline to submit hospital/surgical center audit documentation.
If you successfully pass the facility audit you may withdraw before the deadline to submit complete electronic case documentation.
If you submit the required facility case list and attestation letter by the audit documentation deadline but do not pass the facility audit. In this circumstance, the examination fee refund is issued automatically.
