Case Review Dates and Registration
2023 Case Review Timeline
- November 1, 2022: Case Review Registration Opens
- December 9, 2022: Case Review Registration Closes
- December 13, 2022: ABFAS sends candidates instructions for Facility Audit
- January 6, 2023: Deadline for Facility Audit Upload
- January 20, 2023: ABFAS notifies candidates that the list of procedures selected for review is available on the PLS site
- March 10, 2023: Early bird case documentation upload deadline for Surgeon of Record checks with opportunity to fix. Candidates must submit by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
- March 24, 2023: Deadline for candidate upload of case documentation. Candidates must submit by 11:59 p.m. Pacific time.
- April 13-15, 2023: Case Reviewers meet. Candidates do not attend Case Review.
Results are available six to eight weeks after reviewers meet.
Case Review Registration
Eligibility
- In order to register for Foot Surgery Case Review, you have to have achieved Board Qualified status in Foot Surgery.
- In order to register for RRA Surgery Case Review, you have to have achieved Board Qualified status in RRA Surgery and Board Qualified status in Foot Surgery.
- Once you have met your case number and diversity requirements in PLS you are eligible to register for Case Review. You can register for Foot Surgery Case Review and RRA Surgery Case Review at different times, depending on having met the case number and diversity requirements for each exam.
How to Register for Case Review
To get started, sign-in to your ABFAS profile with your ABFAS user name and password using the "Login" button at the top of the webpage. If you need password assistance, you will find it on the "Login" page.
After you have signed in, click on “Register for an Exam” on the left-hand side and follow the steps to select and pay for your exam. You will then be registered for Case Review.
If you are logging in by smartphone or tablet, you will find “Register for an Exam” under the Account Overview heading.

Exam Windows for Board Qualified Candidates
*Candidates who have not previously fulfilled the Part II CBPS Examination Requirement must take the NEW CBPS Examination. The Part II CBPS Examination is no longer offered and is superseded by the NEW CBPS Examination.
