ABFAS Announces Board Leadership Appointments

We are pleased to announce Diana Rogers, DPM, MS, FACFAS, as the new ABFAS president-elect, and Vito Speciale, DPM, FACFAS, as the newest member of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Rogers' passion for sports led her to begin her career as an athletic trainer before pursuing advanced medical education. She earned a master's degree in biomedical sciences and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Barry University, followed by a three-year surgical residency at Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation, Florida. A Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Dr. Rogers has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to advancing the profession through education, certification, advocacy, and leadership. She has been actively involved with ABFAS for many years, serving in the Didactic Review Group, mentoring item writers, and participating as a Case Reviewer. Her contributions reflect her dedication to maintaining high standards in foot and ankle surgery and supporting the certification process.

Dr. Rogers is equally committed to educating and mentoring the next generation of physicians and surgeons. She currently serves as faculty for the North Florida–South Georgia Veterans Affairs Podiatric Residency Program, preceptor for the HCA-University of Central Florida Family Medicine Residency, and as faculty for AO educational courses. She also volunteers as a Residency Program Evaluator with the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME).

Dr. Speciale received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and completed residency training at Western Pennsylvania Hospital and West Houston Medical Center. Dr. Speciale has been an active volunteer within the organization since becoming certified, starting with field testing the oral exams and serving as an oral examiner. He currently serves on the ABFAS Didactic Examinations Committee, as a Case Reviewer, and as an Item Writing Group Mentor.

Practicing in Summerville, South Carolina, Dr. Speciale is active in the hospital community, serving on the Credentials Committee of Trident Medical Center and lecturing to support the continued progression of the podiatric profession. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a former program director of the Kingwood Medical Center Residency Program.

We sincerely thank Timothy J. Mineo, DPM, FACFAS, for his contributions throughout his tenure and service to both the ABFAS community and the foot and ankle surgery profession.
