ABFAS 2025 Surgeons of Tomorrow Contest Winners Announced
Scholl's Neha Sayala wins video contest while WesternU’s Nyanika Arora wins written essay contest.

SAN FRANCISCO — Today, the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) is excited to announce the winners of the 2025 ABFAS Surgeons of Tomorrow Student Conference Scholarship Contest.
- Neha Sayala, Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science — Video Category
- Nyanika Arora, Western University College of Health Sciences — Written Essay Category
More than 40 podiatric medical students nationwide submitted essays and videos sharing why ABFAS Board Certification matters to them as future podiatric surgeons and how they plan to use it to benefit their patients. Winners were selected by members of the ABFAS Communications Committee.
ABFAS Chair of Communications Committee Dr. Duane J. Ehredt, DPM, FACFAS, said:
"As an educator, it is incredibly rewarding to see the depth of knowledge and clinical maturity displayed in this year’s competition. The Surgeons of Tomorrow participants have shown that they are ready to meet the rigorous standards we uphold at ABFAS. Their passion, preparation, and commitment to excellence serve as an inspiration to the entire academic and surgical community."
Each winner will receive a scholarship covering travel and registration to attend the ACFAS 84th Annual Scientific Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, February 24-27. There, they will join more than 2,000 of the nation’s top foot and ankle surgeons for sessions on the latest advances in the profession. Winners will also be recognized at the ABFAS Annual Meeting and attend a special meet-and-greet with the ABFAS Board of Directors and Communications Committee.
