McGoff is coming to ABFAS from the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), where she served in a variety of roles. Most recently, she was the Assistant Executive Director for Certification Services. In that role, she provided strategic leadership,
management, and vision in the development and improvement of ABEM’s resident, applicant, candidate, and diplomate processes.
“I am truly honored to step into the role of CEO at the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery,” McGoff said. “ABFAS has a proud legacy of advancing excellence in podiatric surgical care through rigorous certification standards.
I am excited to build upon that foundation, support our Diplomates, and collaborate with the dedicated staff and volunteers to shape the future of foot and ankle surgery with integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to public trust.”
McGoff succeeds Kathy Kreiter, who retired after more than 10 years of service to the organization. Following Kreiter’s retirement announcement, the ABFAS Board of Directors launched a comprehensive executive search process with Vetted Solutions
and formed a CEO search committee—led by ABFAS President Michelle Butterworth, DPM, FACFAS, and comprised of current and former board members.
"We are extremely excited to have Angie as our next CEO of ABFAS,” said Dr. Butterworth. “Our search committee conducted a national search interviewing many eligible candidates. It became very clear that Angie was a perfect match for our organization.
With her extensive experience and exceptional leadership with ABEM, Angie is exactly what ABFAS needs to continue to move our organization forward while serving our Diplomates, protecting the public, and maintaining our high-quality standards. We
look forward to having Angie join our ABFAS team!”
McGoff will work alongside Interim CEO Tom Harlow, CPA, CAE, to ensure a seamless transition.
