What to Expect on Exam Day

When you arrive at the testing center, you should expect a few things.

Bring Two Forms of Identification

To be admitted to the test center, you must present two forms of identification. Your first and last name must be the same on the two forms of ID you bring to the test center, and that name MUST match your first and last name exactly as it appears on your Pearson Examination Confirmation e-mail. If it does not, you will not be admitted. When you receive the email, check your first and last name to ensure it matches your ID, and if it doesn’t, contact us immediately by emailing Scheduling@ABFAS.org or calling us at 415.553.7800.

Additional Identification Requirements

Your two forms of identification must meet the following requirements:

Primary ID
Your primary ID must:

  • Be government issue.
  • Have a recent and recognizable photograph.
  • Show your first and last name used to register for the exam.
  • Include your signature.
  • Be an original ID (photocopies and digital IDs will not be accepted).
  • Be valid (unexpired).

Examples of an acceptable form of primary ID are: passport, driver’s license, military ID, state ID, green card/permanent resident card.

Secondary ID
Your secondary ID must include the following elements:

  • Include your first and last name, which must match the name used to register.
  • Show your signature.
  • Be original (photocopies and digital IDs will not be accepted).
  • Be valid (unexpired).

Examples of an acceptable secondary ID are: IDs issued by schools, employers, banks, credit cards, insurance companies, and professional licensing organizations.

We recommend you check your expiration date for both IDs as soon as you receive the confirmation email so you’ll have plenty of time to renew your ID if necessary.

Security at Pearson VUE

When you arrive at the testing location on test day, you must sign-in on a digital pad, have your photo taken, and have your palm vein image scanned. Security personnel may inspect your eyeglasses and clothing. You must store your personal items in the test center lockers. Personal items include all bags, books, notes, electronic devices, watches, and wallets. Testing centers prohibit study materials as well as food and drink in the test center. Visitors, guests, pets, and children will not be allowed at the center.

Exam Day Emergency

If an emergency, including inclement weather, prevents you from taking the examination, please call ABFAS immediately at 415.553.3085. It is a good idea to arrive up to 30 minutes before your examination. If you expect to arrive later than the start of the examination, contact Pearson VUE at 800.511.6951 as soon as possible.

Arriving more than 15 minutes after the start of the scheduled examination appointment may result in being denied entry to the test center.
