Alberto Herrada, DPM – Florida

Dr. Herrada received a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from The University of Florida in 1993 and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Barry University in 1997. After a one-year primary podiatric medical residency at Westchester General Hospital in Miami, Florida, he completed a two-year foot and ankle surgical residency at the Encino/Tarzana Regional Medical Residency Program in Los Angeles.

Dr. Herrada was certified in Foot Surgery and in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) in 2007. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is actively involved in ABFAS and has served on the Cognitive Examination Committee and the Credentials Committee.

Following residency, Dr. Herrada began practice with Lauderdale Orthopaedic Surgeons from 2000 to 2007. He has been in private practice in Cooper City, FL, from 2007 to present. He has been actively involved in residency training for the past 17 years and is an attending physician with the Westside Regional Podiatric Surgical Residency Program.

During his career, Dr. Herrada has participated in several volunteer services. Starting in residency in 1997, he served as a physician surgeon for the Baja Project for Crippled Children in Mexicali, Mexico, and again in 2007 for the Yucatan Crippled Children’s Program in Merida, Mexico. He presently serves on staff at several local area hospitals including Broward Health Medical Center, where he participates in the medical and surgical management of the needy.

It is with great pleasure that I accept my nomination to serve as a member of the ABFAS Board of Directors. I am honored to know that my fellow members deem me worthy of such an important responsibility. Over the past several years, I have had the privilege to serve ABFAS on the Cognitive Examinations Committee as well as the Credentials Committee. During these times, I have realized the dedication and responsibility the board has to upholding the integrity of our profession.

Becoming board certified is a proud moment and landmark in our careers. Having been asked to be a part of the process which maintains and continuously propels our profession forward is a true honor and privilege. I will always be proud of my participation with ABFAS. I would be honored to continue my involvement and promote our board and our profession as a member of the ABFAS board of directors.
